Radiologist Dr. Apparao Mukkamala was appointed the president of the Michigan State Medical Society in 2007.  Having received his medical degree from Guntur Medical College, Andhra University, he is a clinical professor of radiology at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.  He was also among the primary founders of both Chinmaya Vijaya Orphanage and the NRI Medical Center and Medical School in Andhra Pradesh, India.
